This post has been in the making for over a year. Originally, I held back on sharing much from the WIPA Cincinnati Gala—not because I wasn’t proud of the work (I absolutely am), but because it sits a little outside what I typically share. The color, the lighting, the textures—this event pushed into new territory. And honestly, that’s what made it worth writing about.
Photographing this event was a privilege for a couple of reasons. First, I was trusted by Leda Anderson, someone I deeply admire and am now lucky to call a friend. She designed the event with her signature blend of edge and refinement, and as usual, she pushed the boundaries of what’s expected. That invitation alone felt like a big moment.
Second, it gave me a chance to step into a space that challenged how I define my own style. I’ve always leaned into a certain aesthetic—natural light, soft palettes, connection above perfection. But this? This had bold projected patterns, vibrant color, and dramatic shifts in light. That the work still feels like me is something I’m deeply proud of.
And of course, the people. Many of the guests were friends, which made the experience both creatively fulfilling and socially meaningful. Balancing those two energies—creating art while wanting to just be present—was a beautiful challenge.
The images range from the romantic glow of an outdoor venue entrance to the vibrancy of the dance floor and the layered details tucked into every corner. From the paper goods to the florals to the food, every element had depth and intentionality. The paper suite in particular deserves a moment—rich layers, great dimension, just absolutely on point.
This gala was the chapter’s first, and it set a high standard for future events. I’m glad this body of work finally has a place to live. It reflects where I’ve been, where I’m heading, and the kind of creative tension I’m excited to embrace going forward.
