Paris has always been our place. We try to visit every other year—part tradition, part language practice, part love letter to a city that has meant so much to us over the years. In 2024, the tradition took a new turn: we’re having a baby! We decided to head to our favorite place one more time before our daughter was born (and I mean, right before! Some may call it a “babymoon”. After this trip, I’d call it: a little crazy).
It was fun. It was beautiful. And honestly? It was a humbling mess at times, too.
We’ve always had a rhythm when we travel—walk a ton, seek out the cafés off the beaten path, stay up too late, say yes to everything. This trip showed us that our old way of doing things wasn’t going to hold. That pace didn’t work anymore. But instead of frustration, it brought a kind of calm. It was preparation—both practical and emotional—for the season ahead.
Becoming parents is a big change. But this trip reminded us that while life will shift, some things don’t have to fall away. Our shared passions still matter. We still want to travel, to speak French, to make space for photography projects—like the Paris maternity photos we took during this trip. Getting to do that in a place that feels like a second home was the sweetest gift.
I can’t wait to go back again—this time with our daughter in tow. And maybe one day, she’ll fall in love with this city the same way we did.
