Romance in Winter: A European-Inspired Editorial at Basil Place

Basil Place has long been a favorite, but this project invited a new perspective: a day designed with the intimacy and quiet luxury of a European destination celebration—right here in Northeast Ohio. Set on a private estate outside Cleveland, the property’s architecture and acreage gave us room to build something refined, romantic, and deeply intentional.

Planned in collaboration with Sirpilla Soirees, we embraced the season’s neutral palette and let shape, texture, and light lead the story. PR Rentals brought in sculptural arches and polished pieces that anchored the ceremony and reception scenes with clean lines and dimension—proof that thoughtful design can transform any backdrop.

We opened with a narrative you’ll often find abroad: the couple getting ready together. Slow moments; shared details; a little chic, a little sultry. It set the tone for portraits that felt present and unforced—images that carry both elegance and edge.

For paper goods, Brittany Nichole delivered an artful suite that echoed the editorial direction—layered, tactile, and crafted to photograph beautifully. Inside, the table design favored structure over excess: considered florals, refined place settings, and warm light gathering across the room as the day moved toward evening.

A few Holga frames added that dream-like grit I love—unexpected, textural, and undeniably alive—while the rest of the film work leaned clean and editorial. The result is a gallery that feels cohesive yet nuanced: modern lines, romantic gestures, and a sense of ease throughout.

This project stretched what’s possible at Basil Place—not by fighting the season, but by designing with it. When a team shares a vision, even a pared-back landscape becomes an elegant canvas.
