4 Wedding Website Why’s // For Brides

Hey there lovelies!

So the Knot or another reputable wedding expert source told you that a wedding website would be a great idea.  You made one, and now…?  What are these supposed to be for, anyway?

Wedding websites can be a great resource for your guests if you go about using it the right way!  Here are some ideas for what you can do with your wedding website:

1. Tell your story.  The people you invited to your wedding are people you and your fiance love, and they love you back.  While there will surely be people that know and love you both, there will also be people who only know one of you.  Let them get to know you through your wedding website!  Bonus: everyone loves a good love story πŸ˜‰

2. Upload your guest list and let people RSVP early online.  This is a newer concept for many guests (and brides!), but it is such a great thing to have information earlier rather than later.  When Matt and I were getting RSVPs back in the mail, we received an envelope with no RSVP; it must have fallen out during mailing!  We forgot to put numbers on the RSVP cards, so we had to guess who it was.  Having people RSVP through your website may save you some grief!

3.  Link your registry.  The wedding registry can be SO fun but also stressful for people on both ends.  When you link your registry to your wedding website, you give people a bit of convenience so they know for sure they are buying what you like from the vendors you chose.  If you link your registry websites and people access them through your wedding website, certain website hosts like The Knot will donate a portion of what’s paid towards your gift to a charity of your choice!  It’s a win-win πŸ™‚

4.  Give details of where the wedding is.  If you have a lot of out-of-towners, this is a huge bonus for them and makes you a great hostess!  There have been a few weddings I’ve been invited to and there was a big gap between the ceremony and reception, and I had no idea what to do with my time in between.  By putting a link to a map of the area (i.e. Google Maps with the address of both locations put in), you’re helping your guests feel more prepared.  They’ll also know just how much time they’ll need to get from their house/hotel to your ceremony!

Ultimately, the wedding website can seem like another to-do, but it is a simple way to help organize things for your guests (and for you!).  How have you made the most of your wedding website?
