“Is that the right dock?”
“No, doesn’t look like it….let’s keep going”
We were rolling slowly through the Cleveland Yacht Club, looking for our a specific pier that we just couldn’t seem to find. To be fair, the numbers distinguishing them are fairly small. 😉
“Oh my gosh, is it the navy one?!”
“I think it is!”
We parked the car and made our way over to the boat.
Matt is our resident almost-eagle-scout, just being the last project away. As he was growing up, he loved being outdoors (something that is still true) and meeting challenges (also true). When he was earning badges, one that he never earned was his sailing badge. At the time, it wasn’t a big deal, but now that Matt’s grown he’s wanted to learn how to sail.
Luckily, one of Amanda’s friends and coworkers has a sailboat and a husband who has been sailing for decades. They were kind enough to let us steal away for the evening with them—and we were thrilled!
We went out on their boat to learn the ins and outs of sailing, but there wasn’t enough wind. Instead, we floated about and heard stories of law students doing questionable things to their boss’ boat, one too many drinks paired with storms that blew through Lake Erie with vengeance, and views on tiny houses and which dogs are best.
While it wasn’t the evening we expected, we had a lovely time. 🙂
