We’d been back to Max Chaoul. We’d visited the Louvre. Now we were inspired anew.

When you look at a piece of art, the subject (usually) stands out. Everything else about the room fades, leaving the emotion and the message of the piece. This happened for us at the Louvre in front of “La Liberté guidant le peuple” and Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss (we dare you to find something more romantic). Even thought the pieces were surrounded with people, the message and the simple complexity (or is it the complex simplicity?) came through.

It was that quality that fueled our final Parisian wedding inspiration shoot of the trip. We wanted to “paint” Matt & Audrey into Paris, with their love as the subject.

Frequently when we write about our couples’ wedding celebrations, we touch on the idea of unity—between the couple as well as between their families and friends. Celebrating marriage unites people who otherwise may not have connected!

What we loved seeing in Paris was that idea of unity came through strangers, too. In a culture where talking to strangers is weird, even to give a compliment, a woman approached me during the shoot and started talking in French about the couple, how beautiful Audrey looked, how she loved the style of the Max Chaoul dress, and so on.

What an honor to be able to create art in an artist’s paradise, to be inspired but also see strangers be inspired.
