Bluemont, VA
So we went on a bit of a hike.
A few short months ago, we met a Virginian in Israel and quickly discovered we were kindred spirits. We’ve been fortunate enough to visit her and refine and sharpen our beliefs in the process. Isn’t it great to hang out with profound people?
While we were visiting, we set up a styled shoot to occur so we could show off a beautiful dress from a Cleveland bridal boutique and get to see some great DC sights. However, the day before the shoot, we had the idea of having Sarah be her adventurous self and see if she would be willing to give the dress a go while we were out and about. We packed the dress to see if a serendipitous moment would occur.
We started at a winery that overlooked gorgeous foothills. You would think that going to a winery in the dead of winter would hinder its beauty, but the gorgeous weather and the company made it more beautiful than I imagined it was going to be.
We decided to take a hike on a trail a few minutes up the road. Turns out, it was a section of the Appalaichan Trail, which I have always planned on hiking eventually. It was good to move again, breathe, and not really work for anything except to find the next lookout. So often adventuring has turned into going to a new coffeehouse and sitting, which is great, but the human body was made to be active, to explore.
We found a beautiful lookout and had just enough time to shoot before the sunset. It felt surreal–sort of ridiculous that we were about to whip out a wedding dress in the wilderness, but it also was so amazing. Sarah was a total trooper, changing behind a rock and a space blanket that Amanda held up while I was the lookout.
We created some real magic and laughs. Check it out.
This shoot also marks an exciting milestone in our journey of film photography. It was our very first all film shoot. It felt a little crazy but we didn’t even bring a digital camera!! 🙂
