We can tell you from experience, this wedding was like no other.
It started in the morning with the girls listening to mostly Broadway songs, jamming in their warm cabin on the grounds of Varian Orchards. Melissa’s dress was dangling from the loft, waiting patiently for its moment. Things were going pretty smoothly, then we went to visit the guys.
We opened the door to find them playing board games, listening to classical music and our groom literally shaking a bit if you really watched his hands. Knowing Melissa & Michael for over a year, we KNEW how much Michael loved Melissa and how badly he wanted to marry her. Sometimes, the waiting is the hardest part.
Then there was more waiting, as the rain on the October afternoon caused an accident on a major highway family was using to get to the wedding. They postponed the wedding by about 20 minutes, then went from there.
In the period of waiting, though, there was a mix of heightened expectation and peace as Mike, Melissa’s father, did an impromptu prayer with Melissa and her bridesmaids as well as a prayer with Michael and his groomsmen. It helped set the tone for the rest of the day, focusing on what really mattered.
Once the ceremony got going, things went smoothly with many emotions (friends and family tease the groom a bit about his emotions, but truly that’s one of the best parts about him), and Mel and Michael were finally married.
We spent the evening capturing scenes from dramatic dance moves to emotive moments passed between family members and friends.
We are so glad to call these two dear friends! Congratulations!
