Kara and Cullen’s wedding day was a beautiful balance of two extremes. Just like as in life, there were incredible highs with bottles popping and confetti fluttering through the air. There was music blaring, people dancing, and flashes popping! Kara has an incredible eye for detail and there wasn’t a single detail that was missed for this roaring twenties inspired wedding day that was truly roaring.
I hope you can see it in these pictures. There’s this beautiful sweeping view of the room. It’s like we’re in the movie The Great Gatsby where there’s light and laughter all around, and in the epicenter of this joy is Kara & Cullen.
But like I said, the entire day couldn’t be summed up by describing this raucous party. We’d be incredibly remiss if we didn’t mention all the tearful moments as well. The ones where everyone in the room was taken in, and we held our breath, not wanting to fracture the moment.
As Kara & Cullen read their vows in private to one another, you could feel the years of anticipation, the three years of waiting in every word they said. The emotion that swelled in that moment set the tone for the next few hours. It swept Kara and her father down the aisle, and tears spilled down Kara’s cheeks again (and mine and Amanda’s as well).
Once the ceremony wrapped up, though, all that emotion was spilled out onto the dance floor for the rest of the night, carrying people into the new decade with smiles and happy loving tears.
There are many weddings we shoot where we are reminded of our own vows and the magnitude of what we get to do, but this day was especially poignant. Kara and Cullen’s wedding possessed all the highs and lows of marriage—the hope, the stress, the communication and the commitment.
We’re so grateful for this incredible couple and raise a toast to Kara & Cullen!
