Matt & Audrey are friends of ours who wanted to take the plunge into the arctic-feeling temperatures in Ohio. We met them on a Sunday afternoon, had them put on as many layers as possible, then made the drive out to see Brandywine Falls.
We already knew it was frozen over, but what we didn’t know was how amazing it would be to be down at the bottom of the falls, standing right where water typically prevents you from doing so. This past summer, we were the subjects of a shoot (always good to be reminded of what it feels like to be in front of the camera!) and we were at Brandywine Falls, slipping over rocks and putting our feet in the water. This time, we were slipping over ice to get to the best locations.
We loved the blue in the ice and how it contrasts with the warmth that Matt and Audrey give off, not just with the colors they were wearing but with their lives. They make it a priority, because of their relationship with Jesus, to love others and make them feel welcomed into the family. This cold scenery was the perfect backdrop to contrast their warm love for each other and for the world.
Usually we like to chat with our couples throughout the shoot, but because it was so cold there was little conversation!
This shoot was challenging in terms of time, as our fingers and batteries only had limited life to them before we would be forced to wrap it up. Fortunately, we were able to create some magic in the limited time (and get coffee after to warm up!).
