We knew from the beginning that we were going to get along great with one another. When Makenzie and Matt first spoke on the phone last autumn, we learned that Makenzie and her fiancé, Nick, love NYC, traveling, and spending time together. It also came up in conversation that Makenzie and Nick’s reception venue is where Matt worked right after high school! There were so many connections; it would have been hard to not get along.
Our first session with them was a little awkward at the beginning (like I feel I’m saying all the time, it’s always a little awkward at the beginning!), but they ended up rocking it (you can check out their in-home lifestyle engagement session here). Because we already had a foundation with Makenzie and Nick, we were even more excited to continue our relationship during our second session.
Makenzie and Nick “The Smolder” are so great to work with. Their go with the flow attitude is admirable, and their love for one another is so evident. This couple isn’t afraid to have fun together or make fools of themselves for a beautiful photo, and we think it paid off. Some people agreed, as they honked at Makenzie and Nick while they were posing!
Makenzie and Nick were great at dancing together, and Nick is basically a male model. Makenzie’s dance experience showed itself and she exuded confidence throughout the shoot. Matt and I had a hard time holding back our excitement at how beautiful these images were coming out!
After the shoot, we were all hungry so we went out for dinner, not knowing how awesome it would be! We talked about a TON of different things from politics to religion to dog-rearing and schooling. We also covered foreign language, since we’re so into it, and Makenzie and Nick were talking about their limited experience with Spanish. Makenzie shared, “Me llamo Makenzie”; Amanda said, “Me llamo Amanda”; Nick said, “LLAMAS!” There was also a mention of rice. We love the combination of love and beauty with a sprinkle of awkward this couple is and brings–we speak that language 😉
