Beachin’: Family Edition // Family Session

Fripp Island, South Carolina

“Okay, does everyone have something blue?”

Matt and I knew that his family wanted to do portraits while on vacation, but with the focus being on getting to the beach house there was minimal outfit planning before leaving Ohio.  Because Matt’s family is low key, they weren’t concerned about it, but I am such a planner (I’m learning to let some things go, though!).  We started by throwing out a color we thought the blue-eyed beauties would have with them–blue.  Only one person had to acquire a new shirt 😉

We drove the golf carts out to the Southern tip of the island to make the best of the beach, the light, and the breeze.

The girls braved the wind as we kept an eye out for camera’s worst enemy, sand, but the light was beautiful and everyone was feeling the love!

Clouds started to roll in with accompanying lightning.  Originally we thought nothing of it since there had been lightning every night due to the heat.  But the lightning kept coming.  And clouds got darker…we bust out of there as fast as we could!  Problem being the golf carts we rented had a capped speed, so we were putzing down the road maxed at 25mph, trying to beat the increasingly girthy raindrops plopping on the roof of the vehicle.  We got to the beach house, clutching our cameras to make sure they weren’t going to be ruined by camera’s tied-for-worst enemy, water.

Fortunately, we made it inside as the biggest drops began to splat down onto the roof of the house.  We looked at the moments we captured–and we could not be happier!

PS: And just like last year as congratulations for making it through our family session journal entry here is a behind the scenes image of the pure hilarity that is making this session happen. 😉
