There’s nothing new under the sun after you’ve been with someone for seven years; all that remains is understanding love and goofiness.
We kicked off Nicolette and Tyler’s engagement session with a twinge of nostalgia: we met at an ice cream shop where Nicolette’s grandma would take her after getting her hair done every Friday. Even after the passing of several years, Nicolette still recalled a couple memories created there.
We ordered giant milkshakes and a vanilla (classic!) cone and found a spot in the corner of the small-town parlor. Nicolette and Tyler got started on their ice creams, giving each other the occasional smirk and laugh (have you ever had someone take pictures of you while you’re eating ice cream? It’s quite the time).
The four of us talked about relationship qualities and how you know it’s time to do laundry when you can’t open the door to the bathroom anymore. Nicolette and Tyler were so natural together! We take it as the highest compliment that they let their weird out–we value when our clients let us see how they truly are with each other. As the evening went on, there were more silly looks, random dances, and dramatic poses intermittently placed within our more romantic shots.
We also talked about cars being in the background and how that affects aesthetic, so at our second location Tyler parked in the background so his Jeep could make a cameo in photos. We love Jeeps (one of our vehicle goals), so we put them in the Jeep for a quick minute at our final location.
We wandered around a beautiful park in search of great light and found some in the woods. As we walked, Nicolette and Tyler shared kayaking stories of lost phones and other valuables (it pays to have humorous friends!).
Afterwards, we went to dinner. We discussed Amanda’s affinity for the word “lizard” and Nicolette’s fear of birds. The conversation of course turned to dogs and pets after a little while, and we got to see one of their sweet pups wearing a bow. Naturally, Matt was in heaven. But truly, the entire evening was something incredibly special.
