Cincinnati, OH

There’s nothing like seeing a place with new eyes. 

Amanda’s been to Cincinnati a few times in her life, as a few of her family members live there, but she hadn’t been to visit for a few years. She knew it was a pretty place overall, with tall buildings and amiable light play, but her last stay there was mostly spent inside at a competition during college. This time around, we got to go together to a wedding celebration as guests! 

We arrived on a sunny Friday afternoon, ready for the evening’s festivities.  After dropping off our things at (insert hotel), we headed over to the cathedral for our cousin’s wedding ceremony. 

The church itself was beautiful, as was the ceremony.  It’s always good to see people you care about dedicate their lives to each other!  It’s why we do what we do. 

After the ceremony, we went up (up, up, up) a hil to a historic monastery that had been converted (but duh tsss) to a venue.  It was stunning.  High ceilings, great acoustics, and that feeling you get when you know a place has seen so much greeted us when we walked in. 

After the party had ended, we went to the hotel to crash.  The next morning we had brunch with our extended family, then were off to explore the city.  We spent most of our afternoon at a tour of the monastery and wandering around the surrounding areas.  The way the monastery was situated so high up over the city made us think of Montmartre, the arrondissement of Paris that’s home to the Sacre Coeur.  To be so high up is a sobering experience!  It was wonderful to reminisce a bit but also enjoy Cincinnati for what it was—a unique city with so many things to discover. 

We ended our stay with a sunset walk across the bridge into KY. 🙂
