How to Choose Your Wedding Shoes // For Brides

The number one thing to keep in mind when considering which shoes to wear for your wedding day is how they make you feel. Maybe before you can answer that question though, take a few minutes to ponder how you want to the wedding itself to feel. Do you want a elegant and sophisticated affair? Or are you wanting the day to be relaxed; a party with your close family and friends? Perhaps a mix of both?

As I’m sure you already know the right pair of shoes can really effect how you feel? Do you have a pair of power heels that make you feel like a CEO? How about a pair of awesome tennis shoes that motivate you to get out and log a few miles? Or what about a pair of comfy slippers you immediately gravitate to when you walk in the door? Your wedding shoes can elicit a similar response. :-)

If you are looking for the more sophisticated end of the spectrum consider a beautiful set of heels. They also offer the benefit of encouraging good posture and help elongate your legs, making them look fantastic. If you opt for a peep-toe heel make sure to schedule a pedicure before your wedding day so you have no inhibitions about letting your feet show; remember the goal is to make you feel as beautiful and confident as possible.

If, as you were considering your wedding day, you settled in the camp that was somewhere in the middle, one easy option is to purchase two different pair of shoes. One pair that is a little more chic for the beginning of the day, likely wearing these through your bride and groom portraits and then changing into something more suitable for dancing the night away once your reception begins. Purchasing a comfortable yet still fitting pair of flats for this part of the evening can be a great way to have an elegant affair but also participate in all the revelry of the evening.

Finally, if you have always felt your best when you’re comfortable you don’t necessarily need (or want) to change that for your wedding day. If a pair of flats is going to help you be fully present for your wedding then by all means wear a pair of flats! ;-) Comfortable shoes don’t have to be boring though, in fact some of my favorite bridal shoes that we’ve seen have been flats. Bella Belle offers truly stunning options and Kate Spade even has a line of wedding day Keds.
