Rocky River Engagement Session // Jen & Jim
If you’ve ever watched The Office, you know the emotional investment of a workplace romance (or even the potential of one). You see two people you enjoy who you know would be perfect for each other, but they don’t know it yet. Until they suddenly do.
Jim & Jen met at work, in a deeply intellectual field (their relationship *took off* at NASA). When we were talking with Jen & Jim about their engagement photos, they mentioned going to Rocky River Reservation. They love being outdoors, and with the weather warming up in the Midwest it was the perfect location to represent them!
We got to the park, saw a ton of dogs, and immediately noticed the warm light spilling through the trees. Before we could start the session, though, we had a pretty significant climb ahead of us. The instant bonding of mutual suffering is a remarkable thing!
By the time we got to the top of the stairs, we were cracking jokes and hearing all about how Jen & Jim may have been practicing for this day. ;-) Even with the heads up, we were still surprised at just how natural they were in front of the camera!
As we explored the park and walked their usual loop, we fell into our natural habit of chasing the sun. It was present of the majority of the shoot, but right at the end it outdid itself. With such a perfect sunset in front of them, we suggested that Jen & Jim continue their walk into the setting sun and for Jen to literally let her hair down. As we watched them laugh and kiss and snuggle in the later afternoon glow, I was reminded of just how much I have been looking forward to nights like these over the past long winter months.
PS: You guys said you wanted to see more behind the scenes, so here’s Matt in a tree. It’s surprisingly normal at this point.
